Web services, including Web Map Service and Web Feature Service, are also supported to allow use of data from external sources. QGIS supports shapefiles, personal geodatabases, dxf, MapInfo, PostGIS, and other industry-standard formats. Multiple formats of raster images are supported, and the software can georeference images. Vector data is stored as either point, line, or polygon features. QGIS supports raster, vector and mesh layers. QGIS functions as geographic information system (GIS) software, allowing users to analyze and edit spatial information, in addition to composing and exporting graphical maps. It is capable of this in a desktop environment, and due to its compatibility with sophisticated spatial databases, it is also a very capable GIS in the corporate environment.QGIS is a free and open-source cross-platform desktop geographic information system (GIS) application that supports viewing, editing, printing, and analysis of geospatial data. Quantum GIS is a fully functional GIS that is capable of all of the things a fully functional GIS should be able to do. I suppose this post is as much about what is a GIS as it is “what is Quantum GIS?”. I hope this simple example illustrates that the database that lies behind a GIS map is a really important aspect of GIS. Land ownership information can be updated using the database functionality of GIS. They can be stored, they can be re-projected (made compatible with maps from different sources) if necessary, and they can be recombined to create new maps, Managing information about mapsĪn example of this would be a map of houses…although a house might be built to last for decades, during its lifetime it’ll probably be occupied by a number of different families. Maps can be managed in all sorts of ways in a GIS. Hmmmm, someone on a low income who owns an expensive sportscar? Managing maps For example, datasets that were previously impossible to relate to each other can be related in a GIS so long as there’s a common spatial “geocode”…imagine how happy tax departments are that a tax payer’s address can be mapped and related to a motor vehicle registration map. However, GIS has far more sophisticated functionality than front-of-house map viewing. At its simplest this means overlaying two maps on top of each other and having a look. This one makes me dreamy! Relating maps is such an incredibly powerful feature of most GISs. Zooming and panning is functionality we’re all familiar with Relating maps For example…houses built in the 1800s, towns where the average income is low, places where the vegetation quality is poor, etc. In QGIS though, you can search for something in your own maps. Google maps has given most of us the functionality to search for an address. This is something most of us are familiar with. Taken to an extreme, no more storage facilities for maps and maps produced on demand with the latest version of the map! Searching maps Of course you could imagine that a GIS would have to store maps…but what an incredible difference this functionality has made to the mapping industry. Whichever input method you choose, the things you’ve traced will need further editing and then processing using QGIS map editing modules so that the maps are then usable to QGIS. Another path is to bring a scanned paper map into QGIS and then, similarly to the digitizing tablet method, trace map features with a mouse. One path is placing a map on a digitizing tablet and tracing all the points, lines and areas with a (mouse like) puck. This is the conversion of paper maps into maps that can be used in the GIS. Quntum GIS can do everything in this definition so lets pull the definition apart a bit… Capturing mapsīy this, I mean digitizing. What a Geographical Information System?Ī GIS is a computer application that allows you to capture, store, search, manipulate, relate and manage maps and information about them. In order to understand what Quantum GIS is, lets have a quick look at what a Geographical Information System is. Its been around since around 2002 and these days is similarly functional to commercial Geographical Information Systems. What is Quantum GIS (QGIS) – its a brand of Geographical Information System that is Open Source and so free.

Are you having a yard sale? Use this Classic Yard Sale Flyer Template to invite everyone! That's why you need a professionally designed flyer. Sales flyers are a cost-effective option that'll help you connect your products, services, or events with your potential customers. Use these tips to take advantage of flyer and brochure marketing on a budget so you can grow your business to new heights.Sales flyers are an effective way to market your business and must be included in your marketing campaigns. Mailing 500 brochures might not net enough sales volume to cover campaign costs, while mailing 5,000 – at a significantly-reduced price-per-piece – can yield a substantial profit now, and a lifetime of earnings later.Īny business, small to large, can take advantage of brochure and flyer marketing to foster sales growth. No matter which distribution strategy you choose, it’s important to consider your ultimate ROI. Of course, this doesn’t represent the cheapest brochure marketing you can do leave-behinds and point-of-sale displays are cheaper than direct-mail marketing and, if you can do the design and distribution yourself, you could put 5,000 brochures in the hands of potential customers for less than $400. That single brochure campaign could open the door to a total of $150,000 in sales! Now, let’s say the lifetime value of your average customer is $1,500. Consider how many of each type of brochure you’ll use throughout the year and print them all at once to minimize your investment. Brochures, for example, can be sent as direct-mailers, set out as countertop displays, and used as sales helpers during presentations. It can make more sense to print higher quantities, even if you spread their usage out over multiple campaigns. Think about your brochure and flyer marketing campaigns in terms of how much it costs to reach each prospect, the lifetime value of a customer, and your ROI. The more you print, the greater your overall cost however, your price per piece can be significantly reduced at higher quantities. The bottom line is you don’t want to skimp on printing quality however, you can take measures to minimize your investment and increase your ROI when printing flyers and brochures on a budget.

All of those questions should be answered before you dive into the purchase of a blue sofa. If you are considering the purchase of a blue sofa or blue couches, think about the texture of the sofa as much as the color. Sofa design is super important when designing a space. Artwork that coordinates well with your sofa will bring even more life to your space! Think About the Texture of Your Blue Sofa You can also use artwork to set your space apart. Adding pops of color with bright throw pillows and rugs will bring in some character and charm. I love a bold sofa paired with bold accent colors. You could combine your bold blue sofa with bold colors or you can layer it with soft neutrals to really allow it to stand out. Sofas that are more ornate in design and brighter in color are definitely meant to be focal point pieces. Allow the Blue to Be BoldĪnother option is to use a blue sofa as your statement piece in your living room. Using blue as a neutral base means your sofa won’t be competing with the rest of the colors in the room, it will be used to complement them. That means you can pair a navy blue sofa with other neutral colors, most commonly beiges, whites, and grays, or you can pair a blue sofa with colorful hues. Blue is obviously a color but when layered with other bold colors it takes on the role of a neutral hue. Most interior designers would agree that you can use navy blue as a neutral. Our collaboration with JDC has been nothing short of sensational these past months, and working alongside our colleagues at the team has opened up some exceptional opportunities to really get under the skin of this outstanding car, and most importantly for the players at home, recreate what we consider to be one of our most accurate and detailed vehicles for rFactor 2 so far.Īs costs continued to spiral during the previous generation of endurance racing regulations, many teams and drivers found themselves migrating to the much more financially friendly and increasingly competitive LMP2 category of racing – high downforce prototype machines that don’t quite reach the ultimate lap pace of the table topping LMP1 / LMdH / LMH group, but offer seasoned professionals and up and coming drivers multiple opportunities to race in championships throughout the world. With JDC in the unique position of being the only team to run two Cadillac DPi-V.R entries this season, we found them to be the perfect partner to team up with as we looked to maximise the available data and resources when creating this new car. Despite having to perform in front of mostly closed door audiences and with a hastily amended calendar, the American teams would put up another determined fight against racing royalty in the form of Acura Team Penske, with the manufacturer taking a total of three race wins and runners up position in the championship for the #10 Konica Minolta car of Australian Ryan Briscoe and Dutchman Renger van der Zande. Wayne Taylor Racing pairing Ricky and Jordan Taylor would dominate the drivers’ standings in the new machine, securing the title convincingly from sister entry Whelen Engineering, themselves taking a victory at the demanding Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at the Canadian Tire Motorsport circuit in Ontario, Canada.Ģ018 would be just as successful for the popular return of the Cadillac brand, with a further four wins courtesy of Mustang Sampling Racing (2), Wayne Taylor Racing (1) and Whelen Engineering (1) enough to secure a clean sweep of drivers and teams’ championships for the iconic American manufacturer.Ī further four wins in 2019 would again see the Cadillac DPi-V.R at the sharp end of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship despite increased competition from the likes of American powerhouse outfit Penske and Mazda, although championship success would elude the manufacturer for the first time, with the Brazilian driving duo of former Formula One driver Filipe Nasr and SportsCar star Pipo Derani narrowly missing out on top spot in what was generally considered to be the most competitive championships in the recent history of the IMSA series.įast-forward to a truncated 2020 season and again Cadillac would prove to be force to be reckoned with, this time with JDC running two cars under the JDC-Miller Motorsports and JDC Mustang Sampling banner alongside entries from Konica Minolta and Whelen Engineering. The most intrusive ad experiences include prestitial ads (those full-page ads that block you from seeing the content on the page) and flashing animated ads. Over 40,000 internet users in North America and Europe participated in surveys where they were shown common ad experiences and asked to evaluate how intrusive the experiences were. The Better Ads Standards are the result of public consumer research by the Coalition for Better Ads, an industry group focused on improving users' experience with online advertising. We've previously discussed some of the details surrounding how Chrome protects users from intrusive ads, but as we approach the launch date of February 15, we wanted to go under the hood and discuss how this feature works in more detail. As we announced last June, Chrome will tackle this issue by removing ads from sites that do not follow the Better Ads Standards. While most advertising on the web is respectful of user experience, over the years we've increasingly heard from our users that some advertising can be particularly intrusive. |
